Arkansas Razorbacks Host Tulsa in Must-Win Matchup This Saturday

Tyler CallahanSeptember 21, 2026

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — First-year head coach Ryan Silverfield and the Arkansas Razorbacks will look to halt an early-season slide when they host the Tulsa Golden Hurricane on Saturday night at Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium.

Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. CT and the game will stream on SEC Network+ / ESPN+. The Razorbacks enter the Week 4 contest at 1-2 after a promising season-opening win over North Alabama followed by lopsided losses to Utah (43-10) and No. 2 Georgia (45-17). Tulsa, meanwhile, sits undefeated at 3-0 for the first time since 2008 after upsetting Oklahoma State in the season opener and rolling past Sam Houston and East Texas A&M.

Razorback History – A familiar Foe

This marks the first meeting between the programs since 2018, when Arkansas blanked Tulsa 23-0 in Fayetteville. The Razorbacks lead the all-time series by a wide margin (approximately 55-15-3 or 55-16-3 depending on the source) and have not lost to the Golden Hurricane since 1976.

Despite the historical dominance, recent previews have noted that the matchup carries unusual intrigue. Tulsa already owns a Power conference win this season, while Arkansas has struggled to establish a consistent identity under Silverfield. Some analysts have framed Saturday’s game as a de facto must-win for the Hogs before a brutal stretch of SEC play begins with a road trip to Texas A&M.

Keep an Eye on KJ Jackson

Arkansas has dealt with questions at quarterback, with KJ Jackson seeing the bulk of the work but AJ Hill also getting snaps. Establishing a more consistent running game and improving overall defensive execution will be priorities after the Georgia loss. Silverfield addressed the upcoming challenge in his Monday press conference, highlighting Tulsa’s dynamic running attack (ranked among the top 35 nationally early in the season).

Tulsa, coached by second-year head coach Tre Lamb, has shown balance and physicality. The Golden Hurricane feature a strong ground game led by backs such as Damari Alston and Trequan Jones, while the defense has been opportunistic. An upset would be the program’s first over Arkansas in half a century and would further validate their strong start.

For Razorback fans, Saturday represents a chance to reset the narrative under Silverfield and build momentum heading into conference play. For Tulsa, it is an opportunity to notch another signature win on the road against a Power Four opponent. Either way, the night game in Fayetteville should provide an early-season test with meaningful implications for both programs
